Steps to change login screen color on Windows 8/8.1:

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor.

Step 2: Find and open the Explorer folder.

As shown in the following picture, you can locate it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion.

Step 3: Create a new key named Accent in the Explorer folder.

The detailed procedures are as below.

1. Right-click Explorer, choose New in the context menu and select Key in the sub-list.

2. Rename the new key as Accent.

Step 4: Build a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named DefaultColorSet in Accent.

1. After opening the Accent key, right-tap the blank area on the right side, select New and choose DWORD (32-bit) Value.

2. Rename the value as DefaultColorSet.

Step 5: Edit the DefaultColorSet value.

Double-click DefaultColorSet to open its edit window. Then, choose Decimal, input a number between 0 and 24 (including 0 and 24) as the value data and tap OK.

Tip: Different number represents different color. For example, 16 stands for purple, 18 for blue and 22 for pink.

After the above steps, when you go to the login screen on your Windows 8 PC, you will find that its background color has been changed accordingly.
