Steps to create a Task Manager shortcut on desktop in Windows 8/8.1:

Step 1: Access the Apps screen with Windows key+Q, and click Notepad to open it.

Step 2: Enter the run command of Task Manager (i.e. taskmgr) in the Notepad.

Step 3: Save the document as CMD file.

This step can be realized by the following two procedures.

1. Tap the top-left File tab in the Notepad, and click Save As in the list to continue.

2. In the Save As window, choose Desktop, rename the file, add ".cmd" (without double quotation marks) to the file name and click Save.

In seconds, the CMD file is shown on the desktop, playing the role of the Task Manager's shortcut.
