This article will respectively introduce how to add and remove a device on Windows 8 computer in the following content.
Generally speaking, there are two ways to add a device on Windows 8.
Way 1: Add a device in PC settings.
Step 1: Connect a device to a Windows 8 computer and make sure the device is discoverable by the computer.
Step 2: Open Charms Menu and select Settings in it.
You can open the Charms Menu by pressing WIN key and C key simultaneously. Besides, for your information, WIN key is the key with windows logo.
Step 3: Select Change PC settings on the lower right corner.
Step 4: Choose Devices under PC settings and click Add a device option on the right side.
Step 5: Wait for the program to search for the device, as the following screen shot shows.
Step 6: Click the device to start installing it on the computer and patiently wait for the setup progress to be completed.
Way 2: Add a device in Control Panel.
Step 1: Connect the device you want to add with your computer.
Step 2: Click the Desktop icon on the Start Menu of Windows 8 so as to enter the traditional desktop.
Step 3: Press the composite key of WIN key+X to open a menu and select Control Panel in it.
Step 4: In the Control Panel, choose Add a device under Hardware and Sound.
Step 5: Wait for the device to be found by the computer.
Step 6: Click the device so as to install it on the computer and wait for the setup process to be finished.
Step 1: Enter PC settings from the Charms Menu.
Regarding to this step, you can refer to the operation method in the Way 1.
Step 2: Select Devices in the left menu.
Step 3: Click the device you want to remove on the right and tap the remove button (referred to the button with minus sign), as exhibited in the following screen shot.
Step 4: In the prompt box, tap Remove to remove the selected device.
All in all, the methods introduced above really work in adding and removing a device on Windows 8 computer.
