How to Use Windows 8/8.1 Reader

In Windows 8/8.1 computer, there is a built-in app called Reader which can help you open XPS or PDF files. Nevertheless, only knowing this information is not enough, because you can learn more about the program. And this article will show you how to use it from the following aspects.

Guidance to use Windows 8/8.1 Reader:

1. Open Reader

Press the shortcut key of WIN key+F to open Search bar, select Apps, type reader in the empty box and click Reader on the left side.

2. Use it to open a PDF file

3. Browse the document

When a PDF file is opened in full screen mode, move the scroll bar on the upper right to browse the whole document.

4. Enlarge or shrink the content.

On the bottom right, click plus sign (+) to enlarge the content, or tap minus sign (-) to shrink the text. Please refer to the following screenshot.

5. Narrow all pages and back to the original browsing page.

Press Ctrl+minus key (-) to narrow and display all pages.

Use Ctrl+plus key (+) to restore to the original browsing page.

6. Select browse mode.

Step 1: Right-click any place on the file, and a menu containing many functions appears, as shown in the picture below.

Step 2: Choose a browse mode from Two pages, One page and Continuous.

Tips: If you choose Two pages, you can browse two pages at a time. Similarly, suppose you select One page, you can see only one page. Moreover, the Continuous function enables you to see a page whose text size is larger than that viewed by One page browse mode.

7. Hide or display the cover page.

In the right-click menu, click Two pages, and then tap Cover page to display it.

Later, you can click Cover page again to hide it.

8. Browse the previous page or the next page.

After you open the right-click menu, click the middle left or middle right of the file and the left-hand and right-hand arrows turn up. Then, you can tap the left-hand arrow to see the previous page and click the right-hand arrow to view the next one.

9. Search for information.

Step 1: Choose Find in the right-click menu.

10. Save the file.

Step 1: Select Save as in the menu.

Step 2: Name the file, choose the file type and tap Save.

11. Rotate a page.

Click More in the menu, and then select Rotate.

12. Open another file.

Step 1: Choose Open on the context menu.

Step 2: In the next interface, click Browse to look for another document.

Step 3: Tap another file and choose Open.

13. Close the file.

Choose More and tap Close file.

14. Close Reader.

Press Alt+F4 to close it.
