3 Ways to Reset Admin Password on Windows Raid Server

Three common methods about resetting admin password for Windows server 2003/2008/2012/2016 on raid computer tell you how to load the driver for the password reset program.

Method 1: Reset Windows Server Raid Password with Raid-WinPE

Purpose: Enter a screen where you can modify or add user accounts and modify passwords.

1. Download Raid-WinPE from Internet.

2. Click F6 to load the Raid drive when entering WinPE and keep the floppy disk with Raid drive in the USB floppy drive, then insert it into the server and reboot the server.

3. Click F6 to load the Raid drive and enter WinPE.

4. Modify or add user names, then modify the provided password.

Method 2: Reset Windows Server Raid Password with Command Prompt

Purpose: Add a local administrator account or modify the administrator password through command prompt

Take the Windows Server 2008 R2 as an example, the administrator password of it has been forgotten.

Step 1: Take the installation CD of Windows Server 2008 R2 as a boot disk to start computer, finish loading installation image and then enter the language selection screen. Click Shift+F10 to open the command prompt screen. You also can get the DVD/USB download tool to create a USB or DVD installation disk.

Tips: For the Raid server, you must prepare the raid controller and load it when the setup program prompts that it needs the raid controller driver, otherwise, the setup program will fail to detect the drive and system. Step 2: Access the partition where the Windows directory stored and locate to Windows\System32. (The default partition is C:\)

Step 3: Find and delete osk.exe from Windows\System32.
> Type:  
C: \Windows\System32\dir osk.exe on the screen
 //you can see osk.exe below command.
> Type:
C: \Windows\System32\del osk.exe
C: \Windows\System32\dir osk.exe

//Now you can't find out osk.exe again because it has been deleted.

Step 4: Copy and Rename cmd.exe to osk.exe.
> Type:
C: \Windows\System32\copy cmd.exe osk.exe
C: \Windows\System32\dir osk.exe

//osk.exe appears, which means the cmd.exe is copied successfully.

Step 5: Reboot the computer and click the button Ease of access on the lower-left corner. Choose "Don't type with Keyboard" and then click "Yes" on the pop-up dialog.

Step 6: When the Command prompt screen appears, modify the local administrator account password with net user command.

If you are not sure the name of the administrator account, you also can create a new account and password. Follow the commands:
net users admin user Password /add
net local group administrators admin user /add

Step 7: Sign in the server with the local administrator account and password created or modified just now.

Last but not the least, copy osk.exe from another computer installed with Windows Server 2008 R2, and save it on your server to replace osk.exe that has been created.

Method 3: Reset Windows Server Password with Windows Password Genius Raid
