Many users have no idea where the password setting function is in the iPhone or iPad, and therefore cannot set password by themselves. As a matter of fact, it is the same to set a passcode on iPhone or iPad, and this article will clearly and detailedly introduce the steps to set password on iPhone and iPad and other related operations.
For the Apple users, it is recommended to set a password on iPhone or iPad. If you skip the password setting process before, you can set it at any time with the simple steps.
Step 1: For the iPhone X and later users, they need to open Settings and choose Face ID & Passcode. For the earlier iPhone users, they should go to launch Settings and tap on Touch ID & Passcode. If there is no Touch ID on the devices, you can open Settings and click Passcode.
Step 2: Choose Turn Passcode on and enter a six-digit passcode.
Step 3: Re-enter the passcode for confirmation and activation.
Step 1: Find the Change Passcode option. iPhone X and later version users can find it on Settings > Face ID & Passcode . Easier iPhone users, such as iPhone 7 users, can find it on Settings > Touch ID & Passcode. Other users can find it on Setting > Passcode.
Step 2: Click Change Passcode and enter your password.
Step 3: You will see the Passcode Options. Click it and you are offered multiple options.
From our perspective, we do not recommend you to turn off the password protection if you really want to do it. Although Apple takes this human need into consideration, you should think twice before turning password off in that it will expose all your data to others who get your iPhone or iPad.
Step 1: Launch Settings from the Home screen. iPhone X and later version users have the options of Face ID & Passcode. As to other versions of iPhone, there is Touch ID & Passcode or Passcode option. Click it and enter your passcode.
Step 2: Tap Turn Passcode Off option to turn off your password. Later, it will pop up a window to ask for confirmation. You just need to tap Turn Off. After that, your iPhone or iPad is with no password protection.
