CSV Contacts Import or Export in Outlook 2007-2016

At times, you may need to reinstall Microsoft Outlook in an old computer or install it in new PC. Therefore, it is necessary to export Outlook contacts to CSV then import CSV contacts to Outlook. But how to CSV contacts import or export in Outlook 2007-2016?

Part 1: Export Outlook Contacts to CSV

To backup or transfer Outlook contacts, you have to export it to your computer. You can open and view CSV file in Excel. To export Outlook contacts to CSV, do the following.

Note: Sometimes a numerical error occurred during the conversion process, try to open CSV by WORDPAD or Text Document program.

Step 1: At the top left corner, click on FileImport and Export.

Step 2: In the Import and Export Wizard window, choose Export to a file and tap on Next.

Step 3: Under Create a file of type, select Comma Separated Values (Windows).

Step 4: Scroll down and choose Contacts folder to export.

Step 5: Click Browse to save exported files and set a name for it that is easy recognized. Tap on Next then Finish button, CSV file already saves on your computer.

CSV contacts export Outlook 2010

Compared to Outlook 2007, the interface has changed in Outlook 2010.

Step 1: Click on File at the top-left corner, click on Import under the Open tab.

Step 2: In the Import and Export Wizard window, click on Export to a file then tap on Next.

Step 3: Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) from the list.

Step 4: Select a folder and export to CSV file.

Step 5: Click on Browse to choose where to save CSV file and input a name for it. Tap on Next and Finish to save CSV file Outlook 2010.

Step 1: Click On File on the top-left, click Open & Export tab and tap on Import/Export.

Step 2: Select Export to a file from the list in Import and Export Wizard window.

Step 3: Choose Comma Separated Values (Windows) type of file to create.

Step 4: Select Contacts folder from the list to export.

Step 5: Click on Browse to choose place to save CSV file. Tap on Next > Finish.

Part 2: Import CSV Contacts to Outlook

To recover contacts file, import the CSV contacts to Outlook that you have backed up before.

Note: If you have trouble in importing Outlook CSV file, do the following.

  1. 1. In Outlook 2010/2013/2016, click on FileInfoAccount Settings. In Outlook 2007, click on Tools > Account Settings.
  2. 2. In the Account Settings window, click on Address Books. From the list, double-click on Outlook Address Books option to show details. When a little dialog box popups, click Remove Address Books to clear them out.
  3. 3. Press Windows + R key to invoke Run dialog box, type "Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll" without quote and Enter. Relaunch your Outlook and check.

Step 1: Open Import and Export Wizard window.

In Outlook 2007: Click File and select Import and Export.

In Outlook 2010: Navigate to FileOpenImport.

In Outlook 2013/2016: Click FileOpen & ExportImport/Export.

Step 2: Choose Import from another program or file in the Import and Export File Wizard window.

Step 3: Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) file type to import.

Step 4: Under File to import, click on Browse to find the other CSV file. Tick Replace duplicates with items imported or Do not import duplicate items checkbox.

Step 5: Select Contacts folder as the destination folder to import. Tap on Next then Finish button to accomplish.
