By default, the setting named Download over metered connections is off in Windows 10 computer, which prevents extra charges caused by downloading of apps, drivers and information for new devices on metered Internet connections. If you are wondering how to turn it on, keep reading to find the method.
Step 1: Access Settings.
Step 2: Open Devices.
Step 3: Select Connected devices, and click the switch under Download over metered connections to turn it on or off.

In the newest Windows 10 verson, you can click Bluetoot & Other Devices instead. After that, you can select to turn on or off the Download over metered connections.

When this option is on, Windows will download device software, drivers, and updates even if your connection is marked as metered—useful if functionality is critical.
When this option is unchecked,it can help reduce unnecessary data usage when connected to limited data plans.
