Customize Low Battery Alarm Sound in Windows 10

Windows 10 lets you set a custom sound for the low battery alert, so you never miss the warning before your device shuts down. If the default sound is too soft—or you just prefer a different tone—you can easily change it in the Sound Settings.

Method 1: Change the Low Battery Sound via Sound Settings

Step 1: Open Control Panel, type sound in the top-right search box and tap Change system sounds in the result.

Method 2: Customize the Critical Battery Alarm Sound

Windows also has a Critical Battery Alarm, which triggers when your battery is almost drained.

Step 1: Open Control Panel, type sound in the top-right search box and tap Change system sounds in the result.

Step 2: Under the Program Events list, choose Critical Battery Alarm.

Step 3: Assign a different sound just as you did for the low battery alarm.

Tips for Choosing a Custom Battery Alarm

  • Use a short, sharp tone to quickly catch attention.
  • Store your custom .wav file in a permanent location (e.g., C:\Windows\Media) so it doesn't get deleted.
  • Avoid overly long or distracting sounds that may interrupt work.
