Unwanted or outdated power plans can clutter your system. Whether you're cleaning up custom setups or managing default schemes, this guide shows how to delete them using either the Control Panel or PowerShell/Command Prompt.

Part 1: How to Create a Custom Power Plan

As the default power plan, such as Balanced and High Performance, cannot be deleted from the Control Panel, we need to create a custom power plan before going ahead.

Step 1: Access Power Options settings and click Create a power plan option from the sidebar.

click Create a power plan

Step 2: Choose an option from Balanced (i.e. the default), Power saver and High performance, name the plan and click Next to continue.

Step 3: Define the display and sleep settings that you want your computer to use. After that, hit the Create button.

Part 2: How to Delete a Custom Power Plan from Control Panel

For the custom power plans, you can easily remove from Control Panel.

Step 1: Access Power Options and locate the personal plan you want to delete. Then click Change plan settings next to your custom plan.

Note:

  • If your custom plan is currently used as the active plan, you should select another plan as the active plan first. In this way, you are allowed to delete the custom power plan.
