Drop shadows for desktop icon labels are the faint shadowed text effect under the name of icons (so the label is more visible against many backgrounds). You can toggle this effect via Visual Effects settings or the registry.
Step 1: Launch the Run dialog by pressing the shortcut keys : Windows + R. After that, input SystemPropertiesPerformance.exe and press Enter. This opens the Performance Options dialog.
Step 2: In Visual Effects settings, find Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option. Check it if you want drop shadows ON, or uncheck it if you want them OFF. Then, click OK or Apply.
