The frequently auto update of google chrome is annoying. To stop Google Chrome auto-update settings on Windows, you can use one of the following methods:

Step 1: Type "msconfig" in the searchbox and press Enter to open System Configuration window.
Step 2: Switch to "Service" tab, then disable the following two services, click on "Apply" to save changes.
GoogleUpdater InternalService
GoogleUpdater Service

Step 1: Press <Windows + R>, type "services.msc" in the run dialog.
Step 2: Find the following two services "GoogleUpdater InternalService" and "GoogleUpdater Service".
Step 3: Double-click on each of them, set their Startup type to "Disabled", and then click "Apply".

If the previous approach does not work for chrome auto update off, you can add this method for additional warranty.
Step 1: Right-click "This PC", select "manage".
Step 2: Go to Computer Management (Local) > System Tools > Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library > GoogleSystem > GoogleUpdater.
Step 3: Locate the task schedule associated with Google Automatic updates — GoogleUpdateTaskSystem, and right-click to disable it.

Step 1: Type "Computer Management" in the search box and press Enter. Then turn to Service and Applications > Services.
Step 2: Find "GoogleUpdater InternalService" and "GoogleUpdater Service".

Right-click one of them, choose properties. Copy the Path to executable, enter into the update folder,for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update

Step 3: Clear the Update Folder, right-click on the folder, choose Properties > Security > System > Edit. Set the "Full control" to deny.

You can visit Chrome settings (chrome://settings/help). If you encounter an error message stating "An error occurred while checking for updates", it indicates that the chrome disable auto update settings have been successfully applied.

Step 1: Right-click on the Chrome application icon, select "Properties", and in the "Target" field at the end, enter:
--disable-background-networking
Step 2: Click "Apply", and then restart the browser.
