3 Ways to Switch Input Methods on Windows 10

Windows 10 offers multiple ways to switch between input methods, allowing users to choose the method that best fits their workflow. Below are several methods to change input languages or keyboard layouts.

Method 1: Using the Language Bar

Step 1: Click on the language abbreviation (e.g., "ENG") located on the right corner before the clock.

Step 2: From the pop-up menu, choose the input method or keyboard layout you wish to use.

Note:

  • If the Language Bar is not visible, you can enable it by navigating to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Advanced keyboard settings, and then selecting Use the desktop language bar when it's available.

Method 2: Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts

Generally, you can use the left Alt+Shift shorcuts to switch the input language.

Step 3: In the keyboard interface, tap on the language abbreviation to switch between input methods.

Per-App Input Method:

To set different input methods for each application window, go to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Advanced keyboard settings, and tick the option --Let me use a different input method for each app window under Switching input methods section.

Adding New Input Methods:

Open Settings > Time & Language > Language, then click on your language and select Options. Go to Keyboards section and click Add a keyboard. Finally, select your preferred keyboard to add.
