Ophcrack is a Windows password cracker based on a time-memory trade-off using rainbow tables. It could recover 99.9% of alphanumeric passwords in seconds, and is available for Windows 8/7/Vista/2008/2003/2000.
Now let's try how Ophcrack reset password on Windows 7.
We could choose Ophcrack or Ophcrack LiveCD to reset Windows 7 password. Now we choose Ophcrack LiveCD, because it includes Ophcrack v 3.6.
Tips: If we choose Ophcrack, select the latest version Ophcrack v 3.6. If we choose Ophcrack LiveCD, select "ophcrack Vista LiveCD".
Search “Ophcrack” on Google and open the following page. Click “Download ophcrack Live CD” and choose “ophcrack Vista LiveCD” on next page and download it.
After downloading, you could find ophcrack Vista is an ISO image file. You should burn the Ophcrack ISO image file to a blank disc, such as writable USB flash or CD/DVD. Burning an ISO file is different from burning a normal file. It needs a tool, such as UltraISO, ISO2Disc to burn ISO file into USB drive or CD/DVD.
After burning ophcrack into disc, boot computer from the disc by rebooting your computer with newly created USB disc or CD/DVD disc in the drive. Then Linux will load, Ophcrack will start, and Windows password recovery begins.
Tips: If I burned the ISO file, but it does not boot Ophcrack when I reboot my machine. We have to verify there have been two directories stored on the CD: boot and tables.
Ophcrack will locate users on your Windows systems and begin cracking their password. The password recovery process is automatic. When the passwords are displayed on screen, write them down.
