How to Set Internet Explorer 11 Initial Start Page

When you visit a website in Internet Explorer, your homepage will be changed at times. This is an annoying thing for you. Why does it happen? Firstly, your computer has been hacked by malware or viruses. Secondly, the third-party software you have installed on your computer may change your homepage settings. Way 1: Set Internet Explorer homepage in Control Panel

Maybe some websites will automatically download and install some malware on your computer. So, you can go to the Control Panel and find out the application you don't recognize to reinstall completely.

Step 1: In the Windows Search Bar, input Control Panel and press Enter.

Step 2: Click on Programs in the left-hand column and select Programs and Features.

Step 3: Tap on the application you want to uninstall and click Uninstall the image below. Check the issue on Internet Explorer. If it still exists, continue to try the following ways.

Way 2: Change Internet Explorer initial start page via Tools

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer, press Alt + X simultaneously to open Tools menu and select Manage Add-ons from the drop-down.

Step 2: In the Manage Add-ons window, tap on Toolbars and Extensions in the left sidebar. Click the down arrow under the Show and select "All add-ons" from the drop-down.

Step 3: Choose the add-ons under Not Available section then Disable completely.

Way 3: Set Internet Explorer initial start page through Properties

Step 1: Right-click on the Internet Explorer shortcut from the desktop then select Properties.

Step 2: Tap on Shortcut tab. Locate the box behind Target. See If there is a link at the end of a line.

Step 3: Delete the link, click Apply button and click OK to finish.

Way 4: Make Internet Explorer homepage by Registry

Once you may find that you have to change the homepage already, yet you enter the Internet next time, it still changes. Under this situation, you can try to change Internet Explorer homepage in Registry completely.

Step 1: Press Windows + R key combination to open Run window, type "regedit" in the dialog box then press Enter.

Step 2: Located to the following registry subkey and open it one by one: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\

Right-click and Delete the last key.

Step 3: Open the folders below, find out Default and Start Page key and input the website you want to set the homepage under Value data.

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
  • HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
  • HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Step4: Relaunch the Internet Explorer, check for your homepage
