For the stability and security of the system, Apple severely restricts users from modifying the iOS and installing unauthorized apps on iOS. Only when you jailbreak your iPhone, can you achieve root access and get the authority to change the default settings.
However, most of powerful jailbreak tools are only available in macOS and Linux Ubuntu operating system while few of them are supported by Windows. So, is there any way to safely and effectively jailbreak iPhone in Windows? Absolutely! In this post, we will walk you through the detailed steps of jailbreak iPhone in Windows computer.
Preparations: Before jailbreaking iPhone in Window computer, you need to prepare a USB flash drive and download some necessary software in advance.
Hardware requirements: You need a Windows computer and a USB flash drive with 2GB or above.
Tip: If your iPhone is running iOS 15 or above, go to the guide on how to jailbreak iOS 15 or iOS 16 .
Before we go ahead, you need to download the below software.
The jailbreaking process with Ubuntu is a litte complicated so that we divide it into three parts.
Step 1: Insert USB flash drive to your computer and open rufus tool. This tool will detect the USB flash drive automatically. Click SELECT button to import the Ubuntu image file that you've download. Then click START button to start burning. It is advisable to keep other options default.
Step 2: On a prompt box, select Write in ISO Image mode option and click OK to confirm.
Step 3: Wait for a moment until READY appears in the progress bar. That means a bootable USB flash drive is created successfully. Click CLOSE button.
Step 1: Restart your computer. When the computer is booting up, press ESC, F1, F10 or F12. (Depending on the manufacturer or motherboard) to enter the Boot options Menu.
Step 2: On the Boot option menu, select the USB flash drive.
Step 3: Then the computer will boot up from USB flash drive. On this interface, select *Ubuntu option to move on.
Step 4: When the Ubuntu operating system is loaded, a Welcome window pops up. Select Try Ubuntu option to enter Ubuntu operating system quickly.
Finally, you have succeeded in booting up Ubuntu from USB flash drive on your computer.
First and foremost, you cannot unplug USB flash drive and need to connect your iPhone to computer with USB cable. Make sure that the iPhone and USB flash drive are both connected to computer during the process of jailbreak.
Step 1: Navigate to the location of Checkra1n jailbreak tool in hard drive and open Terminal window.
Step 2: In Terminal window, type chmod +x (Notice that there's a space after chmod and x.) and drag Checkra1n tool to Terminal window and hit Enter.
Step 3: Type sudo (Notice that there's a space in the end.) and drag Checka1n tool to Terminal window again and hit Enter. If the Terminal window is shown as follows, that means checkar1n tool is running successfully.
Step 4: Click Start option to continue.
Tips: If Start button is disabled, click Options on the left of Start. Check the option of Allow untested iOS/iPasOS/tvOS versions and click Back. Then the Start button is enabled.
If a warning window pops up, click OK button to continue.
Step 5: Click Next button. Then the tool will put iPhone into Recovery Mode automatically.
Step 6: Before proceeding, you are supposed to read the instructions carefully at first. And then click Start button and follow the steps to put your iPhone into DFU mode.
Step 7: Once succeed, Checkra1n tool will immediately start jailbreaking your iPhone.
Step 8: Wait for a while and it prompts that it jailbreaks successfully. Click Done button.
Before we go ahead, you should download iTunes and iSunshare iBypass Genius on your computer. Then finish the installation by following the setup wizard.
With iSunshare iBypass Genius, it is much easier to jailbreak the iPhone with USB drive.
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the Windows computer and then open iSunshare iBypass Genius. After that, select Bypass ID option on the left side.
Step 2: Read the warning items and then click the Start button.
Step 3: In no time, iBypass Genius detects your iPhone has not been jailbroken. Hit the OK button to go ahead.
Step 4: Insert the USB drive into your computer. Then choose Auto Burn tab and click the Start button.
Step 5: A prompt pops out to tell you that the operation will erase USB data. Click Yes to proceed.
Step 6: The burning process is underway. Wait patiently until you get the success prompt.
After you click the OK button, the software shows you the guide to boot from the USB and jailbreak the iPhone.
Now you should restart your computer. Then press F8 or F12 shortcut to enter boot menu. After that, choose the USB drive and press the Enter key to boot.
Step 1: Choose checkra1n.iso and press Enter key.
Step 2: Choose Boot in grub2 mode and press Enter key.
Step 3: Select 1 Checkra1n-Cygdia.
Step 4: Go to the Start option below and press the Enter key.
Step 5: Choose the Next option to proceed.
Step 6: When you are ready, click Start and follow the instructions to put the iPhone into DFU mode.
Step 7: The jailbreak is installing. This process will take a moment. You just need to wait patiently.
Step 8 : Your iPhone is jailbroken successfully.
Finally, you can open your iPhone to check if it jailbreaks or not. If Checkar1n icon is shown on your iPhone screen, that means your iPhone has jailbroken successfully. That's all.
