Microsoft has added a secure login method to Windows 10, Windows Hello, and Windows Hello PIN is one of the ways to login with a password. Some users want to remove the Windows 11 PIN and log in directly to the Windows operating system without entering any password.
However, when you want to turn off PIN login on Windows 11 and the Remove Password option is grayed out, it restricts you from turning off Facial recognition, PIN, Fingerprint recognition and Security Key from the system. If the Remove button under your PIN option is not blocked, then you can simply disable PIN login by clicking the Remove button.
Step 1: Click on Settings in the Start menu bar to open it, click on Account in the left window, and click on the Sign-in options in the right window.
Step 2: Under PIN (Windows Hello), click the Remove button. Click Remove again to confirm the removal of your PIN.
Step 3: Enter your account password and click OK. The PIN option will not appear the next time you log in.
If the Remove button under your PIN is grayed out, then you can use "I forgot my PIN" option.
Step 1: Press Windows+I keys simultaneously to open Settings, click on Accounts in the left pane, and click on Sign-in options in the right pane.
Step 2: Select "PIN (Windows Hello)" from the Sign-in options and click "I forgot my PIN".
Step 3: A new window will pop up called Microsoft account, simply click Continue.
Step 4: You must sign in to your Microsoft account to verify your identity. To do this, enter your Microsoft account password and click Sign in.
Step 5: A new dialog box will then appear asking you to set a new PIN. Instead of setting a new PIN, click on Cancel.
Step 6: Click on the "X" at the top-right side of the window to close it.
Step 7: Now you can see that the PIN is turned off and you can leave it as it is or set up a new one.
Step 1: Press WIN+R at the same time to open the Run dialog box, type "gpedit.msc", click OK or press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
Step 2: Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon in the left pane, then double click to open Turn on convenience PIN sign-in.
Step 3: Select Disabled option and click Apply and OK to save the changes. After that, PIN sign-in will no longer be available.
Computer Management provides access to Windows administrative tools. Users can manage computer settings through it. It also helps to change and remove login PINs on windows 11.
Step 1: Press Windows+X at the same time and select Computer Management from it to open it.
Step 2: In the left pane locate to System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users, in the right pane, right-click on your user name and select Set Password.
Step 3: This will pop up a warning message. Read it carefully. Click on "Proceed".
Step 4: Leave the "New password" and "Confirm password" options blank. Then press OK to complete the changes. Now reboot your PC or sign in again to Windows. This PIN will be turned off on your Windows 11.
Step 1: Use WIN+R to open the Run dialog box, type regedit, click OK to open the registry editor.
Step 2: Locate the following path in the Registry Editor address bar. Double-click on the value key in the right pane. Then change the Value data to 0, click OK to complete the change. This setting will turn off all your sign-in options, including PIN login. You can change the Value data back to 1 to enable Windows Hello.
